Dwelling

Dwelling. Does it make things better or worse?

The average person will dwell on at least one topic every single day. For some, their constant thought process might consist of worrying over the safety of a newborn child. For others, the topic focused on involves the bills which keep piling up.

But when does this trait become unhealthy? And is it possible to cause even more negative occurrences to take place by constantly thinking about things which can not be controlled?

When a fire gets big enough, it can actually create its own weather system. Could the same thing not be said about a thought which creates uncontrollable passion until the end result produces catastrophic results? When one person feels, does that emotion not eventually affect the environment which surrounds them?

Regardless of this fact, the storm will always supersede passion and emotional occurrences will always take place.

I don't much care for living in a non emotional world to prevent my world from changing around me, but perhaps the answer isn't in "containing" what is in one's heart or in disconnecting from those who are indifferent.

Perhaps the answer lies in focusing one's passion on those things which might bring about a positive difference.

As Marian Edelman might say, "So often we dwell on the things that seem impossible rather than on the things that are possible. So often we are depressed by what remains to be done and forget to be thankful for all that has been done."

Hmm, I don't know if I can go that far with you on this one, Xel-Ha.

As you know, there's a pop-trend spirituality that's swept the nation called "The Secret."

This actually is a very old metaphysical theory based on the "laws of attraction" repackaged with newer and flashier marketing, lol.

The premise is that if you focus positively, positive things and people will be drawn to you. etc.

Well, I'd really LIKE to believe in that; however, I can tell you from personal experience that with some people?

The MORE positive energy you expend on them and the more you show them love, forgiveness, etc., the MORE they hate you, for some reason, and they often don't believe it's possible that you are that geniune and sincere, lol.

In fact, often times they end up affecting YOU more than you affected THEM, lol.

Those of us from dysfunctional families, particularly families with chemical dependency issues, need to be careful with this line of thinking.

We have already been raised to believe that we are single-handedly powerful enough to change others or situations or are single-handledly to blame if that situation or person doesn't turn out ideally.

Such thinking is just more of us trying to give ourselves a sense of control in a chaotic world, much like many blame or credit God (if he or she exists) for things he had nothing to do with, lol.

The truth is, we as humans especially are just not powerful enough to change entire dynamics or other people all by ourselves and we're only responsible for changing ourselves:)

I DO believe in this: If you think the way you've always thought, you will believe what you have always believe, then act as you always act, and therefore nothing will ever change.

And Einstein himself was fond of this quote: "The true definition of insanity is to keep doing things the same way over and over and expecting different results."

We may not be able to change entire dynamics or other people, but we sure as hell can change how we participate in or with them....canna get a witness now? ;)

I don't necessarilly think one person alone can change the weather around them every time they think a destructive thought.

However, if a butterfly can create a tornado by flapping it's wings, then why can't humans, who are karmically linked, also produce such affects? Many people believe that all occurances are interconnected.

So do I.

I believe in the power of a thought and what might be the result of it. Take the state of the economy, for example. Would half of us even dwell on how bad it is if we didn't constantly hear reporters harping about it on the news?

It's as if no matter which television is turned on, there is no escape from it.

The more thoughts focusing on one thought, the more energy which is behind the thought.

Furthermore, it has already been proven a person who has been prayed for, who is suffering from an illness, has a better survival rate.

Some things can be explained and others not so much. Does this mean being positive all the time will bring about a change in one's life?

Absolutely not. The key in it working or not is in believing.

A person can say a million positive things a day. However, if they come across as being fake to others, or don't believe in what they are saying themselves, change will never happen.

Just like you stated previously, "If you think the way you've always thought, you will believe what you have always believe, then act as you always act, and therefore nothing will ever change."

However, the key word in the above statement is the word "believe" Chrys.

When people believe, miracles can happen.
